Learn how your community’s social activity is organized and how needs are met under normal conditions. A better understanding of how segments of the community resolve issues and make decisions—both with and without government as a player—helps uncover ways to better meet the actual needs of the whole community in times of crisis.
Go to community center, school and sports events, and meet with groups like 4-H, to get to know your community’s concerns and grow a relationship with them and your department.
Share information about wildfire safety.
Share our outreach materials to help residents understand easy and often low-cost projects that they can complete on a weekend.
