The program’s mission is to educate, train and prepare students for employment and advancement in firefighting careers by providing learning opportunities to current and aspiring firefighters. Career, volunteer and combination fire departments comprise approximately 100 departments throughout southwest Missouri. The Fire Science Technology Program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills and attitudes required for job acquisition, and success upon entry into the field. The coursework will also expand students’ current knowledge and skillsets. Offering three different levels of education, the Fire Science Technology Program has a path that fits your career goals.
The Fire Science Technology Program is accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and is recognized as meeting the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) minimum standards of excellence.
